While most of the world is talking about the latest device the Sony Ericsson Arc , the first generation of Android based SE devices are just now landing in Israel.

A part from the late arrival the SE will come preloaded with Hipix, a technology that shrinks image size up to 5 times the size of the same image in JPEG format.
The encoding and decoding is based on h.264 video compression codec that is available on almost every smartphone device.
Hipix can be a great solution mainly for carriers that are trying to decrease the data explosion on the one hand but also for users, that will be able to upload and download images much faster and cost efficient than before.
Hipix mobile client is currently available for Android device, whereas the ”PC” client supports PC, Mac and Linux
