Windows (Phone) 8 Announcement

Telling the truth I was not much surprised form Microsoft announcements yesterday.
It is clear that the path that Microsoft is going for is to a unified operating system (like Google wanted to do with the Android 4, but due to there slow adopting levels from the OEMs and carriers, that has not fulfilled just yet)

So what’s new with the Windows Phone 8? Matthew Miller summed it nicely:

  • Multi-core processors
  • More screen resolutions
  • Removable microSD expansion
  • Internet explorer 10
  • Native code
  • NFC support
  • Wallet hub
  • Nokia map technology
  • Windows Phone 8 IT
  • New Start screen
  • WP 7.8 (for all Windows Phone that are out there and will not get updated to Windows Phone 8)
If you missed the Windows Phone 8 Summit you can watch it here

Now all we have to do is to wait for Windows Phone 8 devices to come out this autumn (yes Nokia will have the vast majority of devices)
